comic goes full circle to the little girl at the very beginning of the comic.
I hope you guys have enjoyed this project. I started this comic in April of 2015 during the beginning of my 2nd year of medical school. It has taken a ridiculously long time, one page a weekend in between requests and other things I owed. I started a patreon to showcase these comic arts and It got me through a particularly stressful 3 trimesters. Originally meant to be a mechaphillia porn comic, I advanced the story, and realized pretty quick that I had grown beyond this basic idea. I fell in love with the world I had made up. And so I resolved to just finish my thoughts here, independent of whether or not anyone would take interest. some of you did, and I am very happy.
If any one of you have any questions about the process, the hardships, pitfalls, ect. or just want to know more about the lore of Atoll Lab give me a PM. I’d love to hear from you.
What happens now: I have to go back and edit out some of the adult content panels, make fixes ect. And then after a break id like to advance the Prince Tomcat side story a little bit while I plan and preppare for the next iteration of Atoll Lab, as well as some 3D blender work im interested in learning.
Special thanks to Cerebralerror, Gunnerrott, for turning the shitty dry ass k-rations I call dialogue into something manageable. Good editors/proofreaders are valuable and should be squirreled away when you find them.
shout out to the love of my life Aeroingo, who took time out of his music career to talk me down, and prop me up when I felt like shit some days.
Please leave me any questions or comments down at the bottom!
Prince Tomcat of grumman:

I’ve been a huge fan of your art for years and recently came across this site and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been reading through everything I can find on this site and when I came across this and finished it, I was in complete awe. For some reason Atoll Lab was complete ecstasy to me and incredibly inspiring. It brought tears to my eyes (I apologize if that’s hella cringe lol).
Thank you for being awesome and passionate for what you do and putting in all the painstaking work – and sharing it for the world to see. Always looking forward to more mechanical endeavors!
Do you thinked about planes gnawing on footwear?
@Rio: Not even once. btw happy newyear!
How many times?
Like? How erotic your toughts about it?
Do you have any drawings about it?
WoW more stuff!
Nice arts, hope you have your chill time!
@Ratbat
And that’s all I or anyone else could ever ask of you is to keep doing what you’re doing, because you’ve made great pieces, and it’s definitely keeping me busy during quarantine what with my aforementioned theorizing what the artifact looks like and the hopes of more lore and comics.
If you wanna spoil it for me, I wouldn’t mind that at all, because the moment I see you’ve put up a new panel, I’m definitely reading the hell out of it immediately, so it wouldn’t matter all that much to me if you teased it.
As for the “details”, I can appreciate and understand a little bit to spice everything up and keep it interesting, and that’s exactly what you did, cause like I said, I was fully prepared for it every 5 panels, but nope, just two of that nature. Beautifully done and it kept me reading. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on your work for the foreseeable future, and if I can find a Patreon or something, and maybe some extra dough lying around, maybe I’ll drop you some, eh, “monetary incentives”. o7
This is gonna be a really long one but trust me when I say I have nothing but positive review for you and what you’ve created. Also I typically don’t go out of my way to write a comment like this but you deserve the praise.
I found your website and comics by accident after stumbling across one of your diagrams on Google images (the one with the anatomy) and upon stumbling around at the art and a wikia off site, I’ll admit, my expectations were low, thinking this was going to just be pornography every 5 panels or something similar.
I’m glad I was proven wrong.
I was pleasantly surprised and genuinely wanted to continue reading actually. The amount of depth and lore behind this caught me off guard, as well as the artwork for each panel. I enjoyed everything about your comics, including the subtle details such as a specific set of coordinates in the Pacific, and the characters as well. Now I’m keeping my fingers crossed for an explanation about a specific artifact, cause that’s what I’m especially curious about now.
TL;DR, your work is excellent, in fact, I’d rate it above the usual rabble I find online. Keep doing what you’re doing. Looking out for more comic panels and perhaps more lore.
@... Mr. Ghost
This was a genuinely nice compliment, thank you soo much.
What you said is true, and I know on the outside many people would be turned off by certain details (for example probes on the anatomy sheet). I can assure you that while it started out like a weird soup of deviant-art level porn drawings, I couldn’t just do that sort of thing forever. This body of work is a passion project whether or not it bombs or turns out okay, so Your comment let me know that I’m on the right track. o7
p.s. the artifact is real within the scope of the story but largely remains a mcguffen until furthering the main story. It’s going to take a while to draw it all.I can spoil th story for you if you want haha!
What a cute and hot comic (Prince Tomcat) ! And when will the sequel be?
Cool Comic
I took some time today to download the entire comic and read the whole thing through in one shot. Man, I think that really helped my enjoyment of it; it’s a lot better-paced than I originally thought, and it helped me connect some plot threads I missed just reading it piecemeal. So glad to see it in it’s entirety, Ratbat!
@Iron I think I should tell. Darker story next time. Maybe from the human perspective where these machines are out of control death machines eh? Im so glad you enjoy it though ๐
@Ratbat
No real questions just enjoying your creativity and glad you can still find joy in doing these comics. My only suggestion is the moment it begins to feel like a chore take a couple days off away from it. I have seen so many talented artist and illustrators close up shop because the became overwhelmed with request and projects they wanted to get done ASAP. Never promise to have anything done by a certain date because then that can feel like a job rather than your hobby. I know I love it when something new pops up here, but you have to remain focused on your own enjoyment so it may continue on and on and on and on ๐
And again Congrats on the weight loss I’m proud of you, it’s a struggle that very few people are willing to take anymore!
@ZARA: One problem I am facing right now is time. I needed to take this month off to play and recover. Instead I still worked on art, and spent too much time planning activities for my boyfriend to do on the weekend. Ive really not had much chance to chill. Now I am supposed to learn 3D this week, and I just don’t feel like doing anything. Plus I got people asking when my next art stream is and I just keep pushing it off. I still feel very tired.
thanks for the weight loss cheers tho ๐
Wow it’s over ๐ – I did read what you said and I think the Prince of Tomcat will be a great break giving you something less serious and more ‘Fun’ to write then the Lab story. Whatever you do this was an incredible comic to go through and read, thank you for continuing to the end even through the stressful times.
@ZARA: I think I’m going to update prince tomcat and Calamity equally as they are both a series of short vignettes. I predict calamity will only last about 24 pages. But seriously you flatter me, thanks for tuning in. You have any questions or comments?
Noooooo it’s the end ; _ ;
amazing story; Glad I discover this.
thank Ratbat
@Jean: Dont worry! more to come. <3
Great pages so far on the comic and it been while since coming to this site been busy and stuff for me not to type up a comment. But i have to say what juan said about how the the humanist just happen to found the island were the the dire machine and the artifact was on does sound a bit to too convenient. Not sure it possible but i think mabye someone in the gen-U-mine company probably leaked informatin about the location.still and interesting point juan bought up since the humanist are bunch of anti technology and crazy group of people. And can you tell me a bit more more about machnes going to space cause that sound really badass.also love me pic whit Dempsey having his tail end resting on a pillow it really cute and funny i love it so much. I’m also really happy for you making this far into the comic that you worked so hard on from whenever you started it.thanks for the for everything you do from drawing to typing stories. im happy that i came across this site.
@Sora:Trying to catch up on 2 weeks worth of responses now. forgive me I’m an ass lol.
What Juan says IS too convenient, And Gen-U had all the money in the world to do whatever they wanted in those days, they just never counted on the success machine problem. As for the Space machines, theirs kind of 1.5 stories going on at once, The main story on earth, and their is the small sub story happening up in space. The mining megacorps have colonies set up on the planetary moons and out in space where they process materials to send back to earth. 100 years prior to the discovery of the black shard the world hit a major energy crisis. When it seemed like war was inevitable, fantasy versions of spacex corp and other enterprises saw cash opportunities and were the first to stake a claim in a renewed space Renaissance. These corporations became mega entities as powerful as governments, but they faced stiff competition from one another. It was enough that inter-corp warfare/espionage began behind the watchful eyes of the world. With all that recourse money thrown into R&D they could advance technology much faster then the terrestrial military and even NASA.
UP in space the space machines have their own little wars, their own little dramas. Everyone lives in a post Gen-U-mine future, but their are more corps up there waiting to pull the strings on earth. The world can only dream of Elysium like technology they must have up there. Juan Boh, and Dempsey of Chino, work for IGNAZ CORP. IGNAZ corp was the original target of Gen-u and they’ve been investigating their dead rival for a while. Mostly because a lot of sentient machines work for Ignaz and they want to understand the nature of the Gen-u-mine experiments before someone they don’t like gets a hold of it.
It amazing that no matter what gender they are they can always be looking sexy.
To be fair when the comic first came out I, too, thought Dempsey was a chick.
I wonder at this point of the story when machines awoke and when humanity were affraid of the dire machine is cause other anti machine nation to exist fearing that something like this will happen again. Also nice pic of Dempsey i know he is a male plane but can’t lie on how good looking he is plus that expression on his face is a bit hot. Sorry about that
@Sora: I think it was the eyes, I accidentally make them too feminine sometimes. but real dire machines in the story world- you cant tell their gender unless they speak up, or they have some kind of design on their paint jobs that indicates gender.
Woo hoo update on the Comic ๐ These are some of my favorite parts when allies don’t initially trust each other. Often ends up being a story within a story how trust is built.
@Zara Iโll have to go back and balance the contrast on this page, but Iโm glad you like it :3
And happy new year @Ratbat ๐
@Jean: Happy newyear to you too! -cc
Happy new year! 2018! Best wishes for yโall!
@Gingy happy newyear!
@... Ratbat: Ok that is awesome she’s still so naive to the world and is protecting the only friend/companion/traveler she’s pretty much ever known… Well besides that damn voice in her head from ‘You know who!’ Thank you for the fast response, kind of down the Comic will be ending soon but it was great why it lasted! Hope you still do art and all and don’t give it up!
That’s impressive, how you have made a Corvette Ship ‘Cute’ yet still be ready to fight! Not sure if it’s bravery, or the fact she’s starving that she is ready to throw down.
Question my friend, the Dire’s seem to become attached to Humans and I’ve read some of the background stuff about the linking up and all. But with Bryn’s Captain he ended up with her by accident/random. Is it any human, circumstance, or actual affection that they end up falling in love?
Thanks and glad you had a good vacation! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
@Zara: How fast people get into relationships in this story is definitely a bit exaggerated even with the speed in which I have to tell the story. In the case of Anders, he was picked up curiously on top of the wreck of his old ship by a bewildered and friendly newly awakened ship. He haddent done anything to give her a sense that hes an enemy, Id just say, shes very friendly. But at the time this happened they probably wern’t in a relationship yet. she’s just claiming her prospect earlier ๐
Merry Christmas, all!
I misspelled bastard my bad.
@Ratbat Hey how it been with you i hope you enjoyed on your vaction.Also is this the same female boat that you drew having sex with the same captain as well. Does this mean we will see other cameo like the other pictures you drew. Ps lemarchand is a complete bastred that seriously need to fuck off despite all of his “helping”…..but i still like him as a manipulative character. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
@Ratbat No worries take your time ๐
@Jean : Atoll lab will end around page 72. Itโs nearly done. Prince tomcat I think needs more structure as the last 3 pages have felt disjointed and slowed the momentum for me. I may just jump around.
