Anime is SO HUGE BIG BETTER than manga. I’ll never accept Marin giving up her relationships with Melan. Never.
Aw, what you said? Tons of monomakia porn?.. hgfvgfgghfhgdcgghfghghghgfghgh agghhh want to see.
Btw, question. Why you was in love? Something stopped you?
Ugh I can’t be silent anymore, I want to show all my artist love.
Hello, remember one shy brigadoon fan which e-mailed you 2 years ago? Thank you for the huge inspiration! I think with your art expierence and braveness I have enough power to make more robot sexy art!
Awwe yeah I remember those days xD I was soo in love with melan and Marin as a couple. I was so obsessed and drew a ton of monomakia porn. Your drawing I lively btw!
I’m atleast 80% sure I got the mechadendrite idea from melan atleast in the short term too. Did you think the anime was better then the manga?
Honestly, Japanese robot mecha stuff is high fantasy and if you don’t want to call them true “mecha” you are well within your rights. Most Japanese mecha are “piloted” like a vehicle even though bipedal robots are completely inefficient for war situations. Further more, transformers are anouther form of living machine (they are machine based aliens and not really battle mecha) but Ive been into mecha for so long I stuff it all under the same umbrella. Even Dire machines aernt really truly vehicles anymore.. They are very much living machines like transformers.
A lot of the mecha characters look a lot like the first generation of the Transformers, I was wondering if you’d consider the first-gen as mecha battle robots as well? (Not in vehicle mode) Actually I’m convinced that some of the above pictures are transformer characters. Well your name is a transformer, so I’ll go on a hunch and say you do mingle them with mecha battle robots, but please correct me if I’m wrong. I personally say yes but the new transformers are awesome as always but I don’t see them as mechas, just… I’m not sure how to put it… they’re unique, not all machine but something different, I’m not exactly sure how to word it.
Trust me when I say , me being named “ratbat” was complete coincidence and has nothing to do with transformers I swear!
Now then, this isn’t written anywhere but, Japanese animation and games pop culture robot sci-fi evolved differently from western robot sci-fi designs. In the west we are very much function over form (we like to save money too) and give birth to battletech/mechwarrior/starwars/ us army type designs that make sense for a modern military. We don’t place any kind of symbolism or personification on out mechs however. This is completely different in japan where the machine is as good as a family member or friend. The machine is a samurai armor extension of the hot-blooded warrior soul and are trustily very ornate and humanoid. Japan values form more then function in this aspect.
Yuusha/transformers are largely their own phenomenon the same as Gundam and macross in the past. I assure you there are no transformers in this pile. But ill tell you why you think so. In japan there are mainly 2 types of robots: Real and Super robots.
Super Robots go way back to early Japanese animation and comprise crazy toy-ish boxy looking colossi like voltron who posses powers that defy the laws of physics. Examples are “shin getter robo” and “mazinkaizer” . yuusha and transformers borrow a lot from super robot design because a lot of the same people who designed these robots also designed transformers stuff. “Real” robots are fantasy robots that have abilities that can at least be described within the context of real life. Like missiles and lasers.(Gundam) . What japan views as “realistic” is far removed from what westerners generally view as “realistic” because Japan is intimately in love with the robot in a way most of us will never understand. A sub section of the population are test subjects for robots that would appeal to the aging population. No one has to beautify these machines.. But japan feels they are a good extension of a real human force. For that I love em.
It’s been 8 years and I guarantee a single soul will not look at this but that last pic is giving me some Tiananmen Square vibes
It’s very lovely! One day maybe you’ll be inspired by them again.
P.S. Thank you about seeing my drawing (omg ratbat saw my drawing so happy fan mode on)!
